Q. Where can I go to by train for half fare?

A. Your b_line2 card will get you half fare on local journeys between all stations in Derbyshire with the main train operators including East Midlands Trains, Northern Rail and Cross Country Trains..

You can also travel to places outside of Derbyshire for half fare – for a full list see the 'Where can I travel for half fare outside of Derbyshire?' question.

Q. Where can I travel for half fare outside of Derbyshire?

A. You can travel for half fare on some train journeys outside the county.

But you must always start or finish in Derbyshire or your b_line2 card will not be valid, with the exception of the Robin Hood Line between Worksop and Nottingham.

You can change trains at any station within Derbyshire to complete your journey, but not outside the county. The stations outside Derbyshire you can travel to and from are:

  • Attenborough
  • Beeston
  • Bulwell
  • Burton on Trent
  • Hazel Grove
  • Hucknall
  • Kirkby in Ashfield
  • Manchester Piccadilly
  • Mansfield
  • Meadowhall
  • Newstead
  • Nottingham
  • Sheffield
  • Stockport
  • Sutton Parkway
  • Tutbury and Hatton
  • Uttoxeter
  • Worksop

Plus these rail stations between Derbyshire and Manchester:

  • Ardwick
  • Ashburys
  • Belle Vue
  • Bredbury
  • Brinnington
  • Broadbottom
  • Davenport
  • Disley
  • Fairfield
  • Gorton
  • Guide Bridge
  • Heaton Chapel
  • Hyde North
  • Hyde Central
  • Levenshulme
  • Marple
  • Middlewood
  • Reddish North
  • Romiley
  • Woodley

Important! If the station you are travelling from has no ticket office or the office is closed you can use your b_line card to buy your half fare ticket on the train. But if you are travelling from a railway station that has a staffed ticket office, you must buy your ticket before you get on the train otherwise your b_line2 card will not be valid and you may have to pay full fare on the train.
